| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Ruby Johnson Abel, who was inducted into the African |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | American Educators Hall of Fame on April 18, 2015; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Ruby Abel has served the Dallas Independent |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | School District for more than three decades; she began her |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | teaching career at John Henry Brown Elementary School in 1966 and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | was soon recruited into the administrative ranks; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, In 1974, she was recognized as one of the |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | district's youngest administrators while serving as assistant |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | principal at Charles Rice Elementary School, and she has since |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | served in administrative posts at Lisbon, Fannie C. Harris, and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | John Neely Bryan Elementary Schools; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, A distinguished leader in her field, Ruby Abel |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | was recognized by the Texas Legislative Black Caucus in 1989 |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | for her exceptional contributions to the field of education; |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | she has served as a peer evaluator, and she was appointed to |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | serve on the Texas Education Agency's Texas School Improvement |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Initiative; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Ruby Abel is an exemplary administrator who holds |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | a reputation for excellence, and she is indeed deserving of |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | recognition for her achievements; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Legislature, hereby commend Ruby Johnson Abel on her many |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | educational contributions to our state and congratulate her on |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | her 2015 induction into the African American Educators Hall of |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Fame; and, be it further |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
