SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 88
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the members of the Dallas Alumnae Chapter of Delta
Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, on the occasion of the
chapter's 91st Anniversary Founders Day Luncheon, which is being
held February 7, 2015; and
WHEREAS, The Dallas Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta
Sorority was chartered in 1924 as Eta Sigma Chapter under the
leadership of Frederica Chase Dodd, who had been one of the
national founders of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority in 1913; the
chapter has a long history of service and community work, and it
annually recognizes long-standing sorority members at its
Founders Day Luncheon; and
WHEREAS, This year's honorees include Tammi R. Abney,
Katrina L. Bell, Nicole T. Brown, and Rosiland Burton, who are
being honored for 25 years of membership, Carole Mayo and Mollie
Belt, who are being honored for 50 years of membership, and Julia
Jordan, who is being honored for 75 years of membership; over the
years, these outstanding women have remained loyal members of the
sorority and have served as mentors and role models to countless
sisters; and
WHEREAS, They are truly deserving of recognition for their
longtime membership in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and for the
important role they have played in helping the Dallas Alumnae
Chapter carry out its mission of empowering people and making a
difference in the Dallas community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
Legislature, hereby commend the members of the Dallas Alumnae
Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority on their many achievements
and extend to them best wishes on the occasion of their Founders
Day Luncheon in 2015; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
them as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
