| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the members of the Dallas Alumnae Chapter of Delta |

| 4 | 4 | | Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, on the occasion of the |

| 5 | 5 | | chapter's 91st Anniversary Founders Day Luncheon, which is being |

| 6 | 6 | | held February 7, 2015; and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, The Dallas Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Sorority was chartered in 1924 as Eta Sigma Chapter under the |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | leadership of Frederica Chase Dodd, who had been one of the |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | national founders of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority in 1913; the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | chapter has a long history of service and community work, and it |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | annually recognizes long-standing sorority members at its |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Founders Day Luncheon; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, This year's honorees include Tammi R. Abney, |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Katrina L. Bell, Nicole T. Brown, and Rosiland Burton, who are |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | being honored for 25 years of membership, Carole Mayo and Mollie |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Belt, who are being honored for 50 years of membership, and Julia |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Jordan, who is being honored for 75 years of membership; over the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | years, these outstanding women have remained loyal members of the |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | sorority and have served as mentors and role models to countless |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | sisters; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, They are truly deserving of recognition for their |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | longtime membership in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and for the |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | important role they have played in helping the Dallas Alumnae |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Chapter carry out its mission of empowering people and making a |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | difference in the Dallas community; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature, hereby commend the members of the Dallas Alumnae |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority on their many achievements |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | and extend to them best wishes on the occasion of their Founders |

| 31 | 31 | | Day Luncheon in 2015; and, be it further |
