| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Coach Rick Rhoades, who has been named the recipient |

| 4 | 4 | | of a 2014 University Interscholastic League Sponsor Excellence |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | Award; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, This prestigious honor was established to identify |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | and recognize outstanding sponsors who assist students in developing |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | and refining their extracurricular talents to the highest degree |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | while helping them keep their self-esteem separate from their |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | success or failure in competition; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Coach Rhoades is the Cameron Independent School |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | District athletic director and the head football coach of the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | C. H. Yoe High School Yoemen; over the course of his 31-year |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | coaching career, he has coached football, basketball, track and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | field, and baseball; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, He recently led the Yoemen to their third consecutive |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | state football championship in a season in which he also won his |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | 100th game as a varsity head football coach; his coaching record |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | includes leading two track and field teams to state |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | championships, and he has won numerous district honors; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Coach Rhoades is known for emphasizing the role of |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | athletics in a well-rounded education and for working to include |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | as many students as possible in athletic activities; he has had a |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | positive impact on the lives of countless young people, and it is |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | fitting that he receive special recognition for his successes; |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | now, therefore, be it |

| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature, hereby commend Coach Rick Rhoades for his exemplary |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | achievements and extend congratulations to him on earning a 2014 |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | University Interscholastic League Sponsor Excellence Award; and, |
