SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 910 WHEREAS, The 100th birthday of an esteemed Texan is indeed cause for celebration, and Laura Bennett of Plano is marking this momentous milestone in her life on May 20, 2015, to the delight of her many loved ones; and WHEREAS, Born in 1915, Laura Bennett was raised with her two brothers and two sisters, to whom she was devoted; she was employed as a waitress, and later she and her husband became the owners of a restaurant; although she worked long hours, she always made time for her treasured family; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Bennett assisted her sisters and sisters-in-law with their households when their babies were born, and as her 20 nieces and nephews grew up, she was ever ready to share her time or provide them with funds; caring and generous, she gladly opened her home to anyone who needed a place to stay, whether for a night or a year, and she ensured that nobody went hungry, even when her resources were limited; and WHEREAS, Today, "Aunt Laura" is the cherished matriarch of a large extended family, and the younger generations continue to look to her as a tremendous source of wisdom, love, and inspiration as she joins the elite ranks of those who can reflect on 100 years of life well lived; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th Legislature, hereby congratulate Laura Bennett on the occasion of her 100th birthday and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued happiness and good fortune; and, be it further RESOLVED, Than an official copy of this Resolution be prepared for Mrs. Bennett as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
