11 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 933
22 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
33 recognize Samia Mirza, who is graduating from the first
44 fellowship class of New Leaders Council--Houston; and
55 WHEREAS, New Leaders Council--Houston is a nonprofit,
66 nonpartisan organization that is training a new generation of
77 progressives to work together in the public and private sectors
88 and to take leadership roles in the promotion of a strong
99 democracy, social and economic justice, and equal opportunity; and
1010 WHEREAS, Samia Mirza has devoted substantial time and
1111 resources to honing her leadership skills; she has learned from
1212 her peers and from experts, and she has developed a deeper
1313 understanding of progressive values; and
1414 WHEREAS, She is an actively engaged member of her
1515 community, and she has demonstrated a deep commitment to building
1616 a stronger progressive network in order to craft a better future
1717 for Texas; now, therefore, be it
1818 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
1919 Legislature, hereby commend Samia Mirza on her dedication to the
2020 betterment of her community and state and extend to her
2121 congratulations and best wishes for much success in the future as
2222 a Founding Fellow of New Leaders Council--Houston; and, be it further
2323 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
2424 her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
