                    SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 944
 WHEREAS, The members of Saint Mary Magdalen Catholic
 Church in San Antonio are celebrating the 75th anniversary of
 their church's founding on May 16, 2015; and
 WHEREAS, Organized in January 1940, Saint Mary Magdalen
 was first led by the Reverend James M. Boyle, and a new sanctuary
 was dedicated in 1960 to accommodate the growing needs of the
 parish; today, it continues to benefit from the dedicated efforts
 of priests from the Brothers of the Beloved Disciple, and members
 of the clergy who currently provide guidance to the church
 include the Reverend Joseph Marshall, pastor, the Reverend Will
 Combs, parochial vicar, and David Zamora, deacon; and
 WHEREAS, United by their shared faith and strong
 traditions, the members of this notable house of worship have
 established more than 40 ministries that foster fellowship and
 offer help to those in need; the church faithfully serves the
 Archdiocese of San Antonio and maintains a strong emphasis on
 outreach to the wider community; and
 WHEREAS, Countless Alamo City residents have looked to
 Saint Mary Magdalen Catholic Church for spiritual guidance over
 the years, and it is a pleasure to join in honoring the parish at
 this special time in its rich history; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
 Legislature, hereby commemorate the 75th anniversary of Saint
 Mary Magdalen Catholic Church and extend to its members sincere
 best wishes for the future; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
 prepared for the church as an expression of high regard from the
 Texas Senate.
