| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of Saint Mary Magdalen Catholic |

| 3 | 3 | | Church in San Antonio are celebrating the 75th anniversary of |

| 4 | 4 | | their church's founding on May 16, 2015; and |

| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Organized in January 1940, Saint Mary Magdalen |

| 6 | 6 | | was first led by the Reverend James M. Boyle, and a new sanctuary |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | was dedicated in 1960 to accommodate the growing needs of the |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | parish; today, it continues to benefit from the dedicated efforts |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | of priests from the Brothers of the Beloved Disciple, and members |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | of the clergy who currently provide guidance to the church |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | include the Reverend Joseph Marshall, pastor, the Reverend Will |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Combs, parochial vicar, and David Zamora, deacon; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, United by their shared faith and strong |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | traditions, the members of this notable house of worship have |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | established more than 40 ministries that foster fellowship and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | offer help to those in need; the church faithfully serves the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Archdiocese of San Antonio and maintains a strong emphasis on |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | outreach to the wider community; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Countless Alamo City residents have looked to |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Saint Mary Magdalen Catholic Church for spiritual guidance over |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | the years, and it is a pleasure to join in honoring the parish at |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | this special time in its rich history; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Legislature, hereby commemorate the 75th anniversary of Saint |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Mary Magdalen Catholic Church and extend to its members sincere |

| 26 | 26 | | best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
