SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 964 In Memory of William Gillette Gill Jr. WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and commemorates the life of William Gillette Gill Jr., who died April 11, 2015, at the age of 70; and WHEREAS, William Gill was born August 1, 1944, in San Antonio; he grew up in Corpus Christi, where he developed a love of the outdoors that would last his entire life; and WHEREAS, He married the love of his life, Catherine, in 1966, and the couple enjoyed 48 years of marriage together; they raised two sons, David and Aubrey, and were blessed with two grandchildren, Archer Coleman and Violet Olivia Gill; and WHEREAS, He served with distinction as a captain in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War; after his military service, he and Catherine moved to Austin, where he began a fulfilling, 34-year career in state service with the Texas Air Control Board, now known as the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality; after his retirement, he continued his commitment to public service by joining the Capital Area Council of Governments, where he served for four years; and WHEREAS, He was a man of courage and strength who gave generously to others, and his wisdom and valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who were privileged to share in his life; and WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who had a tough exterior and a warm heart, and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by his family and countless friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of William Gillette Gill Jr.; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of William Gillette Gill Jr. Watson ________________________________ President of the Senate I hereby certify that the above Resolution was adopted by the Senate on May 22, 2015, by a rising vote. ________________________________ Secretary of the Senate ________________________________ Member, Texas Senate
