44 William Gillette Gill Jr.
55 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
66 commemorates the life of William Gillette Gill Jr., who died
77 April 11, 2015, at the age of 70; and
88 WHEREAS, William Gill was born August 1, 1944, in San
99 Antonio; he grew up in Corpus Christi, where he developed a love
1010 of the outdoors that would last his entire life; and
1111 WHEREAS, He married the love of his life, Catherine, in
1212 1966, and the couple enjoyed 48 years of marriage together; they
1313 raised two sons, David and Aubrey, and were blessed with two
1414 grandchildren, Archer Coleman and Violet Olivia Gill; and
1515 WHEREAS, He served with distinction as a captain in the
1616 United States Air Force during the Vietnam War; after his
1717 military service, he and Catherine moved to Austin, where he
1818 began a fulfilling, 34-year career in state service with the
1919 Texas Air Control Board, now known as the Texas Commission on
2020 Environmental Quality; after his retirement, he continued his
2121 commitment to public service by joining the Capital Area Council
2222 of Governments, where he served for four years; and
2323 WHEREAS, He was a man of courage and strength who gave
2424 generously to others, and his wisdom and valued counsel will not be
2525 forgotten by those who were privileged to share in his life; and
2626 WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather
2727 who had a tough exterior and a warm heart, and he leaves behind
2828 memories that will be treasured forever by his family and
2929 countless friends; now, therefore, be it
3030 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
3131 Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
3232 family of William Gillette Gill Jr.; and, be it further
3333 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
3434 his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
3535 Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
3636 memory of William Gillette Gill Jr.
