5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |
---|
6 | 6 | | commemorates the life of William Gillette Gill Jr., who died |
---|
7 | 7 | | April 11, 2015, at the age of 70; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, William Gill was born August 1, 1944, in San |
---|
9 | 9 | | Antonio; he grew up in Corpus Christi, where he developed a love |
---|
10 | 10 | | of the outdoors that would last his entire life; and |
---|
11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, He married the love of his life, Catherine, in |
---|
12 | 12 | | 1966, and the couple enjoyed 48 years of marriage together; they |
---|
13 | 13 | | raised two sons, David and Aubrey, and were blessed with two |
---|
14 | 14 | | grandchildren, Archer Coleman and Violet Olivia Gill; and |
---|
15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, He served with distinction as a captain in the |
---|
16 | 16 | | United States Air Force during the Vietnam War; after his |
---|
17 | 17 | | military service, he and Catherine moved to Austin, where he |
---|
18 | 18 | | began a fulfilling, 34-year career in state service with the |
---|
19 | 19 | | Texas Air Control Board, now known as the Texas Commission on |
---|
20 | 20 | | Environmental Quality; after his retirement, he continued his |
---|
21 | 21 | | commitment to public service by joining the Capital Area Council |
---|
22 | 22 | | of Governments, where he served for four years; and |
---|
23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, He was a man of courage and strength who gave |
---|
24 | 24 | | generously to others, and his wisdom and valued counsel will not be |
---|
25 | 25 | | forgotten by those who were privileged to share in his life; and |
---|
26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather |
---|
27 | 27 | | who had a tough exterior and a warm heart, and he leaves behind |
---|
28 | 28 | | memories that will be treasured forever by his family and |
---|
29 | 29 | | countless friends; now, therefore, be it |
---|
30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
---|
31 | 31 | | Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
---|
32 | 32 | | family of William Gillette Gill Jr.; and, be it further |
---|
33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
---|
34 | 34 | | his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
---|
35 | 35 | | Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
