11 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 965
22 WHEREAS, Mount Sacred Heart Catholic School in San Antonio
33 is celebrating the 85th anniversary of its founding in 2015; and
44 WHEREAS, Established by the Sisters of the Sacred Heart of
55 Jesus in September 1929, the institution became a boys' military
66 school in 1940, and it later added a girls' school in 1955; an
77 early childhood Montessori Program was introduced in 1973, and in
88 1987, the school once again became coed; and
99 WHEREAS, Today, Mount Sacred Heart serves a diverse student
1010 body in grades pre-K through eight; in addition to providing
1111 traditional academic and honors programs, the school enables
1212 students to explore and expand their interests through special
1313 studies and extracurricular activities ranging from musical
1414 theater and the performing arts to athletics and robotics; and
1515 WHEREAS, For eight and a half decades, the faculty and staff
1616 of Mount Sacred Heart have committed themselves to equipping
1717 young Texans with a strong educational foundation, and it is
1818 indeed fitting that the school be recognized on this special
1919 occasion; now, therefore, be it
2020 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
2121 Legislature, hereby commemorate the 85th anniversary of Mount
2222 Sacred Heart Catholic School and extend to all those associated
2323 with the institution sincere best wishes for continued success;
2424 and, be it further
2525 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
2626 prepared for the school as an expression of high regard from the
2727 Texas Senate.
