1111 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1212 SECTION 1. CERTAIN IRRIGATION DISTRICTS. Subtitle D, Title
1313 6, Special District Local Laws Code, is amended by adding Chapters
1414 7505, 7506, and 7509 to read as follows:
1515 CHAPTER 7505. HIDALGO COUNTY IRRIGATION DISTRICT NO. 6
1616 SUBCHAPTER A. GENERAL PROVISIONS
1717 Sec. 7505.001. DEFINITION. In this chapter, "district"
1818 means the Hidalgo County Irrigation District No. 6.
1919 SUBCHAPTER B. POWERS AND DUTIES
2020 Sec. 7505.051. EMINENT DOMAIN. (a) The district may
2121 exercise the power of eminent domain as provided by this section
2222 only if the district submits a letter to the comptroller not later
2323 than December 31, 2017, in accordance with the requirements of
2424 Section 2206.101(b), Government Code, other than the requirement
2525 that the letter be submitted by the date specified by that
2626 subsection.
2727 (b) Notwithstanding the expiration of the district's
2828 authority to exercise the power of eminent domain under Section
2929 2206.101(c), Government Code, the district may exercise the power
3030 of eminent domain as provided by law applicable to the district on
3131 or after the 90th day after the date the district submits a letter
3232 in accordance with Subsection (a).
3333 CHAPTER 7506. HIDALGO COUNTY IRRIGATION DISTRICT NO. 16
3434 SUBCHAPTER A. GENERAL PROVISIONS
3535 Sec. 7506.001. DEFINITION. In this chapter, "district"
3636 means the Hidalgo County Irrigation District No. 16.

3838 Sec. 7506.051. EMINENT DOMAIN. (a) The district may
3939 exercise the power of eminent domain as provided by this section
4040 only if the district submits a letter to the comptroller not later
4141 than December 31, 2017, in accordance with the requirements of
4242 Section 2206.101(b), Government Code, other than the requirement
4343 that the letter be submitted by the date specified by that
4444 subsection.
4545 (b) Notwithstanding the expiration of the district's
4646 authority to exercise the power of eminent domain under Section
4747 2206.101(c), Government Code, the district may exercise the power
4848 of eminent domain as provided by law applicable to the district on
4949 or after the 90th day after the date the district submits a letter
5050 in accordance with Subsection (a).
5151 CHAPTER 7509. HIDALGO COUNTY IRRIGATION DISTRICT NO. 5

5353 Sec. 7509.001. DEFINITION. In this chapter, "district"

6969 SECTION 2. HIDALGO COUNTY MUNICIPAL UTILITY DISTRICT NO. 1.
7070 Subtitle F, Title 6, Special District Local Laws Code, is amended by
7171 adding Chapter 7963 to read as follows:
7272 CHAPTER 7963. HIDALGO COUNTY MUNICIPAL UTILITY DISTRICT NO. 1
7373 SUBCHAPTER A. GENERAL PROVISIONS
7474 Sec. 7963.001. DEFINITION. In this chapter, "district"
7575 means the Hidalgo County Municipal Utility District No. 1.
7676 SUBCHAPTER B. POWERS AND DUTIES
7777 Sec. 7963.051. EMINENT DOMAIN. (a) The district may
7878 exercise the power of eminent domain as provided by this section
7979 only if the district submits a letter to the comptroller not later
8080 than December 31, 2017, in accordance with the requirements of
8181 Section 2206.101(b), Government Code, other than the requirement
8282 that the letter be submitted by the date specified by that
8383 subsection.
8484 (b) Notwithstanding the expiration of the district's
8585 authority to exercise the power of eminent domain under Section
8686 2206.101(c), Government Code, the district may exercise the power
8787 of eminent domain as provided by law applicable to the district on
8888 or after the 90th day after the date the district submits a letter
8989 in accordance with Subsection (a).
9090 SECTION 3. UVALDE COUNTY UNDERGROUND WATER CONSERVATION
9191 DISTRICT. Article 2, Chapter 626, Acts of the 73rd Legislature,
9292 Regular Session, 1993, is amended by adding Section 2.08 to read as
9393 follows:
9494 Sec. 2.08. EMINENT DOMAIN. (a) The district may exercise
9595 the power of eminent domain as provided by this section only if the
9696 district submits a letter to the comptroller not later than
9797 December 31, 2017, in accordance with the requirements of Section
9898 2206.101(b), Government Code, other than the requirement that the
9999 letter be submitted by the date specified by that subsection.
100100 (b) Notwithstanding the expiration of the district's
101101 authority to exercise the power of eminent domain under Section
102102 2206.101(c), Government Code, the district may exercise the power
103103 of eminent domain as provided by law applicable to the district on
104104 or after the 90th day after the date the district submits a letter
105105 in accordance with Subsection (a).
106106 SECTION 4. EFFECTIVE DATE. As provided by Section 17(c),
107107 Article I, Texas Constitution, this Act takes effect only on a
108108 two-thirds vote of all the members elected to each house. If this
109109 Act receives the vote necessary to take effect, this Act takes
110110 effect September 1, 2017.
