11 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

12 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Section 130.905, Local Government Code, is |
---|
13 | 11 | | amended by amending Subsection (a) and adding Subsection (a-1) to |
---|
14 | 12 | | read as follows: |

15 | 13 | | (a) Except as provided by Subsection (a-1), the [The] |

16 | 14 | | commissioners court of a county with a population of 1.3 million or |
---|
17 | 15 | | more, for the support of paupers through a county welfare |
---|
18 | 16 | | department, may authorize the disbursement of an amount not to |
---|
19 | 17 | | exceed $2,500 to the head of the county welfare department for use |
---|
20 | 18 | | as a petty cash fund in order that cash is immediately available for |
---|
21 | 19 | | transportation and other expenses of the paupers. The petty cash |
---|
22 | 20 | | fund must be established under a system provided and installed by |
---|
23 | 21 | | the county auditor with reports to be made to the auditor, as the |
---|
24 | 22 | | auditor may require, by the head of the county welfare department. |
---|
25 | 23 | | (a-1) In a county with a population of 2.3 million or more, |
---|
26 | 24 | | the commissioners court may set the maximum amount authorized to be |
---|
27 | 25 | | disbursed under Subsection (a). |
---|
28 | 26 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
---|
29 | 27 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
---|
30 | 28 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
---|
31 | 29 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
---|
32 | 30 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
