97 relating to petty cash funds for county welfare departments in
108 certain populous counties.
119 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1210 SECTION 1. Section 130.905, Local Government Code, is
1311 amended by amending Subsection (a) and adding Subsection (a-1) to
1412 read as follows:
1513 (a) Except as provided by Subsection (a-1), the [The]
1614 commissioners court of a county with a population of 1.3 million or
1715 more, for the support of paupers through a county welfare
1816 department, may authorize the disbursement of an amount not to
1917 exceed $2,500 to the head of the county welfare department for use
2018 as a petty cash fund in order that cash is immediately available for
2119 transportation and other expenses of the paupers. The petty cash
2220 fund must be established under a system provided and installed by
2321 the county auditor with reports to be made to the auditor, as the
2422 auditor may require, by the head of the county welfare department.
2523 (a-1) In a county with a population of 2.3 million or more,
2624 the commissioners court may set the maximum amount authorized to be
2725 disbursed under Subsection (a).
2826 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2927 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
3028 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
3129 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
3230 Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
