| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 172.026, Election Code, is amended to | |
| 11 | 11 | read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | Sec. 172.026. RESTRICTION ON PETITION SIGNER. (a) On | |
| 13 | 13 | signing a petition to be filed under Section 172.021, the signer | |
| 14 | 14 | becomes ineligible to vote in a primary election or participate in a | |
| 15 | 15 | convention of another political party during the voting year in | |
| 16 | 16 | which the primary election is held. | |
| 17 | 17 | (b) The secretary of state by rule shall provide for a | |
| 18 | 18 | notation to be entered on the list of registered voters furnished | |
| 19 | 19 | for use in the primary election that indicates next to the name of | |
| 20 | 20 | each voter who signs a petition to be filed under Section 172.021 | |
| 21 | 21 | the party of the candidate for whom the voter signed. | |
| 22 | 22 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
