| 11 | 11 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 12 | 12 | | SECTION 1. Section 4.004, Election Code, is amended by |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | amending Subsection (a) and adding Subsection (e) to read as |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | follows: |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | (a) The notice of a general or special election must state: |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | (1) the nature and date of the election; |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | (2) except as provided by Subsections [Subsection] (c) |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | and (e), the location of each polling place; |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | (3) the hours that the polls will be open; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | (4) any other information required by other law. |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | (e) If notice of an election taking place in a county with a |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | population of more than 3.3 million is given by publishing the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | notice in a newspaper, the notice may provide the address of an |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Internet website that lists the location of each polling place, and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | a phone number a person may call to obtain the same information, |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | instead of stating the location of each polling place. |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
