104 AN ACT
115 relating to the designation of a portion of State Highway 71 in
126 Wharton County as the Roy P. Benavidez Memorial Highway.
137 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
148 SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 225, Transportation Code,
159 is amended by adding Section 225.123 to read as follows:
1610 Sec. 225.123. ROY P. BENAVIDEZ MEMORIAL HIGHWAY. (a) The
1711 portion of State Highway 71 in Wharton County between its
1812 intersection with the Colorado County line and Farm-to-Market Road
1913 2765 is designated as the Roy P. Benavidez Memorial Highway.
2014 (b) Subject to Section 225.021(c), the department shall:
2115 (1) design and construct markers indicating the
2216 designation as the Roy P. Benavidez Memorial Highway and any other
2317 appropriate information; and
2418 (2) erect a marker at each end of the highway and at
2519 appropriate intermediate sites along the highway.
2620 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
