| 8 | 8 | | issuance of certain proposed bonds by certain political |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | subdivisions. |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 11 | 11 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter E, Chapter 45, Education Code, is |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | amended by adding Sections 45.114 and 45.115 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Sec. 45.114. REQUIREMENTS FOR BALLOT PROPOSITION FOR SCHOOL |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | DISTRICT BOND ELECTION. In addition to any other requirements |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | provided by law, a proposition submitted to authorize the issuance |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | of school district bonds must distinctly state: |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | (1) the purpose for which the bonds are issued; |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | (2) the amount of the bonds; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | (3) the rate of interest on the bonds. |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Sec. 45.115. DISCLOSURE OF SPECIFIC BOND INFORMATION IN |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | PUBLICLY DISSEMINATED INFORMATION REQUIRED. (a) This section |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | applies only to school district bonds that may only be issued if |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | approved as provided by law by the qualified voters of the district |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | voting at an election held for that purpose. |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | (b) A school district shall include in any publicly |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | disseminated information relating to the proposed issuance of bonds |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | described by Subsection (a), including information provided on the |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | district's Internet website: |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | (1) the purpose for which the bonds are issued; |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | (2) the amount of the bonds; and |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | (3) the rate of interest on the bonds. |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | SECTION 2. Chapter 140, Local Government Code, is amended |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | by adding Section 140.013 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | Sec. 140.013. DISCLOSURE OF SPECIFIC BOND INFORMATION IN |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | PUBLICLY DISSEMINATED INFORMATION REQUIRED. (a) This section |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | applies only to municipal or county bonds that may only be issued if |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | approved as provided by law by the qualified voters of the |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | municipality or county voting at an election held for that purpose. |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | (b) A municipality or county shall include in any publicly |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | disseminated information relating to the proposed issuance of bonds |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | described by Subsection (a), including information provided on the |
|---|
| 42 | 42 | | Internet website of the municipality or county: |
|---|
| 43 | 43 | | (1) the purpose for which the bonds are issued; |

|---|

| 46 | 46 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
