| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 95.001(3), Civil Practice and Remedies | |
| 11 | 11 | Code, is amended to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | (3) "Property owner" means a person or entity that | |
| 13 | 13 | owns real property primarily used for commercial or business | |
| 14 | 14 | purposes. The term includes an employee of a person or entity | |
| 15 | 15 | described by this subdivision. | |
| 16 | 16 | SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only | |
| 17 | 17 | to a cause of action that accrues on or after the effective date of | |
| 18 | 18 | this Act. A cause of action that accrued before the effective date | |
| 19 | 19 | of this Act is governed by the law applicable to the cause of action | |
| 20 | 20 | immediately before the effective date of this Act, and that law is | |
| 21 | 21 | continued in effect for that purpose. | |
| 22 | 22 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
