8 | 8 | receipt or expenditure of federal funds. | |
9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Chapter 140, Local Government Code, is amended | |
11 | 11 | by adding Section 140.012 to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | Sec. 140.012. RECEIPT AND EXPENDITURE OF FEDERAL FUNDS. A | |
13 | 13 | political subdivision that receives or expends a federal grant or | |
14 | 14 | other federal funds that have not been appropriated by the | |
15 | 15 | legislature shall report to the Legislative Budget Board, the | |
16 | 16 | comptroller, and the governor not later than the 90th day of the | |
17 | 17 | political subdivision's fiscal year: | |
18 | 18 | (1) the total amount of federal funds received or | |
19 | 19 | expended in the previous fiscal year; and | |
20 | 20 | (2) the use or proposed use of those federal funds. | |
21 | 21 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
22 | 22 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
23 | 23 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
24 | 24 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
25 | 25 | Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
