66 AN ACT
77 relating to the use of a mechanical or electronic device by a person
88 occupying a voting station.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 61.014(b), Election Code, is amended to
1111 read as follows:
1212 (b) A person may not use any mechanical or electronic means
1313 to record [of recording] images or sound within 100 feet of a voting
1414 station except that a person occupying a voting station may use a
1515 mechanical or electronic device to photograph the person's
1616 completed ballot.
1717 SECTION 2. Section 62.0111(b), Election Code, is amended to
1818 read as follows:
1919 (b) The secretary of state shall prescribe the wording of a
2020 notice posted under this section, which may include a description
2121 of the exception provided by Section 61.014(b).
2222 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2323 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2424 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2525 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2626 Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
