8 | 8 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
9 | 9 | SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 101, Alcoholic Beverage | |
10 | 10 | Code, is amended by adding Section 101.672 to read as follows: | |
11 | 11 | Sec. 101.672. USE OF TEXAS APPELLATION OF ORIGIN. A wine is | |
12 | 12 | entitled to an appellation of origin indicating the wine's origin | |
13 | 13 | is this state or a geographical subdivision of this state only if: | |
14 | 14 | (1) 100 percent of the wine's volume is derived from | |
15 | 15 | fermented juice of grapes or other fruit grown in this state; and | |
16 | 16 | (2) the wine is fully produced and finished in this | |
17 | 17 | state. | |
18 | 18 | SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only | |
19 | 19 | to wine labeled on or after the effective date of this Act. | |
20 | 20 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
