66 AN ACT
77 relating to the labeling of wine as originating from this state.
88 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
99 SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 101, Alcoholic Beverage
1010 Code, is amended by adding Section 101.672 to read as follows:
1111 Sec. 101.672. USE OF TEXAS APPELLATION OF ORIGIN. A wine is
1212 entitled to an appellation of origin indicating the wine's origin
1313 is this state or a geographical subdivision of this state only if:
1414 (1) 100 percent of the wine's volume is derived from
1515 fermented juice of grapes or other fruit grown in this state; and
1616 (2) the wine is fully produced and finished in this
1717 state.
1818 SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only
1919 to wine labeled on or after the effective date of this Act.
2020 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
