| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Chapter 2051, Government Code, is amended by |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | adding Subchapter E to read as follows: |

| 12 | 12 | | SUBCHAPTER E. NOTICE BY POLITICAL SUBDIVISION BY PUBLICATION IN |

| 13 | 13 | | MEDIA OTHER THAN NEWSPAPER |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Sec. 2051.151. NOTICE BY PUBLICATION IN MEDIA OTHER THAN |

| 15 | 15 | | NEWSPAPER. (a) A political subdivision may satisfy a requirement |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | in any other law to provide notice by publication in a newspaper by |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | publishing the notice in any other form of media that the political |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | subdivision determines will provide sufficient public notice, |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | including on the political subdivision's Internet website or an |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Internet newspaper. |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | (b) A notice published in media other than a newspaper must |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | be published for the period required by law for the publication of |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | the notice in a newspaper. |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
