                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            March 6, 2017      TO: Honorable Harold V. Dutton, Jr., Chair, House Committee on Juvenile Justice & Family Issues      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB161 by Dutton (Relating to the child support obligation of an obligor during the obligor's confinement in jail or prison.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Family Code to prohibit a court from holding a respondent in contempt of court for failure to pay child support under certain circumstances of confinement or for lack of sufficient resources to comply with the child support order during confinement. According to information provided by the Office of the Attorney General and Office of Court Administration, any costs associated with the implementation of the bill would be absorbed within existing agency resources. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
