115 relating to the reporting of certain offenses committed by members
126 of the Texas military forces.
137 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
148 SECTION 1. Article 42.0183(b), Code of Criminal Procedure,
159 is amended to read as follows:
1610 (b) As soon as possible after the date on which the
1711 defendant is convicted or granted deferred adjudication on the
1812 basis of an offense, the clerk of the court in which the conviction
1913 or deferred adjudication is entered shall provide written notice of
2014 the conviction or deferred adjudication to the staff judge advocate
2115 general [at Joint Force Headquarters] or the provost marshal of the
2216 military installation to which the defendant is assigned with the
2317 intent that the commanding officer will be notified, as applicable.
2418 SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act to Article
2519 42.0183(b), Code of Criminal Procedure, applies only to a judgment
2620 of conviction entered on or after the effective date of this Act or
2721 a grant of deferred adjudication made on or after the effective date
2822 of this Act.
2923 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
