10- A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
114 AN ACT
125 relating to certification of the state's primary standards of
136 weights and measures.
147 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
158 SECTION 1. Section 13.113(b), Agriculture Code, is amended
169 to read as follows:
1710 (b) The department shall maintain the primary standards in a
1811 safe and suitable place in the offices of the department. The
1912 standards may not be moved except for repairs or
2013 certification. The department shall maintain the standards in
2114 good order and shall submit them to the National Institute of
2215 Standards and Technology or to a laboratory approved by the
2316 National Institute of Standards and Technology for certification as
2417 required to maintain recognition of the department's metrology
2518 laboratory [at least once each 10 years].
2619 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2720 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2821 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2922 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
3023 Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
