| 10 | 10 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 11 | 11 | | SECTION 1. STUDY REGARDING MIGRANT LABOR HOUSING |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | FACILITIES. (a) The Texas Department of Housing and Community |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Affairs shall conduct a study evaluating the quantity, quality, and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | availability of, and the needs associated with, migrant labor |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | housing facilities as defined by Section 2306.921, Government Code, |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | in this state. |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | (b) Not later than September 1, 2018, the Texas Department |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | of Housing and Community Affairs shall submit a written report to |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | the legislature containing: |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | (1) the findings of the study conducted under |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Subsection (a) of this section; |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | (2) recommendations for appropriate actions based on |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | the findings of the study, including any necessary legislative |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | changes; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | (3) a timeline for implementing the recommendations |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | made under Subdivision (2) of this subsection. |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | SECTION 2. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Act takes effect September |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | 1, 2017. |
|---|
