55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to a prohibition on lottery advertisement and promotion in
88 certain low income counties.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 466.110, Government Code, is amended to
1111 read as follows:
1212 Sec. 466.110. PROHIBITED ADVERTISEMENTS. (a) The
1313 legislature intends that advertisements or promotions sponsored by
1414 the commission or the division for the lottery not be of a nature
1515 that unduly influences any person to purchase a lottery ticket or
1616 number.
1717 (b) The commission or a lottery operator may not advertise
1818 or promote the lottery in a county with a per capita income at or
1919 below 150 percent of the federal poverty level.
2020 (c) A sales agent operating in a county described by
2121 Subsection (b) may advertise or promote the lottery within the
2222 sales agent's place of business.
2323 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
