66 AN ACT
77 relating to creating a position of nonprofit agency services
88 coordinator for the Department of Family and Protective Services.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 40, Human Resources Code,
1111 is amended by adding Section 40.0327 to read as follows:
1212 Sec. 40.0327. NONPROFIT AGENCY SERVICES COORDINATOR. (a)
1313 The department shall designate an employee of the department as the
1414 nonprofit agency services coordinator to serve as a liaison between
1515 the department and nonprofit agencies who provide assistance to
1616 families in crisis.
1717 (b) The nonprofit agency services coordinator shall assist
1818 nonprofit agencies in the provision of services and resources to
1919 families in crisis, including:
2020 (1) temporary out-of-home placement of a child with a
2121 caregiver;
2222 (2) mentoring programs, transportation, and
2323 babysitting services and providing meals and other support
2424 services;
2525 (3) furniture, clothing, and other household items;
2626 (4) parenting education training; and
2727 (5) mentoring programs for young adults aging out of
2828 foster care.
2929 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
3030 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
3131 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
3232 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
3333 Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
