| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 40, Human Resources Code, |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | is amended by adding Section 40.0327 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Sec. 40.0327. NONPROFIT AGENCY SERVICES COORDINATOR. (a) |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | The department shall designate an employee of the department as the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | nonprofit agency services coordinator to serve as a liaison between |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | the department and nonprofit agencies who provide assistance to |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | families in crisis. |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | (b) The nonprofit agency services coordinator shall assist |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | nonprofit agencies in the provision of services and resources to |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | families in crisis, including: |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | (1) temporary out-of-home placement of a child with a |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | caregiver; |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | (2) mentoring programs, transportation, and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | babysitting services and providing meals and other support |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | services; |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | (3) furniture, clothing, and other household items; |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | (4) parenting education training; and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | (5) mentoring programs for young adults aging out of |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | foster care. |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
