| 15 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 16 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Section 105.102(b), Education Code, is amended |
|---|
| 17 | 11 | | to read as follows: |
|---|
| 18 | 12 | | (b) The board shall appoint a president of each component |
|---|
| 19 | 13 | | institution who serves as chief executive officer of the |
|---|
| 20 | 14 | | institution. [The president of the University of North Texas |
|---|
| 21 | 15 | | Health Science Center at Fort Worth must be a licensed physician who |
|---|
| 22 | 16 | | possesses a doctor of osteopathy degree from an accredited college |
|---|
| 23 | 17 | | of osteopathic medicine and must have been licensed to practice |
|---|
| 24 | 18 | | medicine in a state of the United States for at least five years.] |
|---|
| 25 | 19 | | SECTION 2. Section 105.402, Education Code, is repealed. |
|---|
| 26 | 20 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 27 | 21 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 28 | 22 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 29 | 23 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 30 | 24 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
