| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Section 572.032, Government Code, is amended by |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | amending Subsection (a) and adding Subsection (d) to read as |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | follows: |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | (a) Financial statements filed under this subchapter are |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | public records. The commission shall maintain the statements in |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | separate alphabetical files and in a manner that is accessible to |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | the public during regular office hours and make the statements |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | available to the public on the commission's website not later than |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | the 15th day after the date the statement is required to be filed or |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | is actually filed, whichever is later. |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | (d) The commission is not required to continue to make |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | available on its website a financial statement that may be |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | destroyed under Subsection (c). The commission may not make |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | available on its website a financial statement that the commission |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | is required to destroy under Subsection (c). |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | SECTION 2. Section 572.032(b), Government Code, is |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | repealed. |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
|---|
