55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to the requirements for submitting a statement of
88 residence at a polling place.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 63.0011(c), Election Code, is amended to
1111 read as follows:
1212 (c) Before being accepted for voting, the voter must execute
1313 and submit to an election officer a statement including:
1414 (1) a statement that the voter satisfies the
1515 applicable residence requirements prescribed by Subsection (b);
1616 (2) all of the information that a person must include
1717 in an application to register to vote under Section 13.002, except
1818 that the application does not need to be signed by the applicant;
1919 and
2020 (3) the date the statement is submitted to the
2121 election officer.
2222 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2323 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2424 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2525 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2626 Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
