9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 63.0011(c), Election Code, is amended to | |
11 | 11 | read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | (c) Before being accepted for voting, the voter must execute | |
13 | 13 | and submit to an election officer a statement including: | |
14 | 14 | (1) a statement that the voter satisfies the | |
15 | 15 | applicable residence requirements prescribed by Subsection (b); | |
16 | 16 | (2) all of the information that a person must include | |
17 | 17 | in an application to register to vote under Section 13.002, except | |
18 | 18 | that the application does not need to be signed by the applicant; | |
19 | 19 | and | |
20 | 20 | (3) the date the statement is submitted to the | |
21 | 21 | election officer. | |
22 | 22 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
23 | 23 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
24 | 24 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
25 | 25 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
26 | 26 | Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
