| 14 | 7 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 15 | 8 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter Z, Chapter 29, Education Code, is |
|---|
| 16 | 9 | | amended by adding Section 29.923 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 17 | 10 | | Sec. 29.923. WORKPLACE SAFETY TRAINING INFORMATION. (a) |
|---|
| 18 | 11 | | The agency shall collect and make available to a school district on |
|---|
| 19 | 12 | | request information regarding workplace safety training that may be |
|---|
| 20 | 13 | | included as part of the district's curriculum. |
|---|
| 21 | 14 | | (b) A school district may develop a workplace safety program |
|---|
| 22 | 15 | | that provides educators access to the information described by |
|---|
| 23 | 16 | | Subsection (a) and encourages educators to include the workplace |
|---|
| 24 | 17 | | safety training information in the curriculum of appropriate |
|---|
| 25 | 18 | | courses provided to students enrolled in grades 7 through 12. |
|---|
| 26 | 19 | | SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2017-2018 |
|---|
| 27 | 20 | | school year. |
|---|
| 28 | 21 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 29 | 22 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 30 | 23 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 31 | 24 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 32 | 25 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
