55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to the practice of chiropractic.
88 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
99 SECTION 1. Section 201.002(b), Occupations Code, is amended
1010 to read as follows:
1111 (b) A person practices chiropractic under this chapter if
1212 the person:
1313 (1) uses objective or subjective means to analyze,
1414 diagnose, examine, or evaluate the biomechanical condition of the
1515 spine and musculoskeletal system of the human body;
1616 (2) performs nonsurgical, nonincisive procedures,
1717 including adjustment and manipulation, to improve the subluxation
1818 complex or the biomechanics of the musculoskeletal system;
1919 (3) represents to the public that the person is a
2020 chiropractor; or
2121 (4) uses the term "chiropractor," "chiropractic,"
2222 "doctor of chiropractic," "D.C.," or any derivative of those terms
2323 or initials in connection with the person's name.
2424 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2525 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2626 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2727 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2828 Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
