| 8 | 8 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 9 | 9 | SECTION 1. Section 621.101, Transportation Code, is amended | |
| 10 | 10 | by adding Subsection (b-1) to read as follows: | |
| 11 | 11 | (b-1) Notwithstanding any other provision of this section, | |
| 12 | 12 | a vehicle or combination of vehicles that is powered by an engine | |
| 13 | 13 | fueled primarily by natural gas may exceed any weight limitation | |
| 14 | 14 | under this section by an amount that is equal to the difference | |
| 15 | 15 | between the weight of the vehicle attributable to the natural gas | |
| 16 | 16 | tank and fueling system carried by that vehicle and the weight of a | |
| 17 | 17 | comparable diesel tank and fueling system, provided that the | |
| 18 | 18 | maximum gross weight of the vehicle may not exceed 82,000 pounds. | |
| 19 | 19 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
