1111 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1212 SECTION 1. Section 42.152, Education Code, is amended by
13- adding Subsection (c-3) to read as follows:

1414 (c-3) Notwithstanding Subsection (c), funds allocated under
1515 this section may be used to:
1616 (1) provide child-care services or assistance with
1717 child-care expenses for students at risk of dropping out of school,
1818 as described by Section 29.081(d)(5); or
1919 (2) pay the costs associated with services provided
2020 through a life skills program in accordance with Sections
2121 29.085(b)(1) and (3)-(7).
22+ (c-4) Not later than January 1, 2018, the commissioner shall
23+ adopt rules requiring the Public Education Information Management
24+ System (PEIMS) to include pregnancy as a reason a student withdraws
25+ from or otherwise no longer attends public school.
2226 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
