9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. (a) The comptroller of public accounts shall | |
11 | 11 | conduct a study to evaluate standards for reporting county budget | |
12 | 12 | information and methods for making that information publicly | |
13 | 13 | accessible. | |
14 | 14 | (b) In conducting the study, the comptroller shall: | |
15 | 15 | (1) identify and evaluate uniform standards for | |
16 | 16 | reporting county budget information; | |
17 | 17 | (2) identify best practices for reporting county | |
18 | 18 | budget information; and | |
19 | 19 | (3) identify and evaluate methods for making county | |
20 | 20 | budget information publicly accessible. | |
21 | 21 | (c) Not later than June 1, 2018, the comptroller shall | |
22 | 22 | prepare and submit to the governor, lieutenant governor, and | |
23 | 23 | speaker of the house of representatives a written report containing | |
24 | 24 | the results of the study and any recommendations for legislative or | |
25 | 25 | other action. | |
26 | 26 | (d) This Act expires September 1, 2019. | |
27 | 27 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
28 | 28 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
29 | 29 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
30 | 30 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
31 | 31 | Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
