99 relating to an annual report on employment positions provided
1010 through the Texas college work-study program.
1111 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1212 SECTION 1. Section 56.082, Education Code, is amended to
1313 read as follows:
1414 Sec. 56.082. ANNUAL [BIENNIAL] REPORT. [(a)] Not later
1515 than January 1 of each [odd-numbered] year, the Texas Higher
1616 Education Coordinating Board shall submit to the governor, the
1717 lieutenant governor, the speaker of the house of representatives,
1818 and the standing legislative committees with primary jurisdiction
1919 over higher education and post on the coordinating board's Internet
2020 website a report on the Texas college work-study program. The
2121 report must include the total number of students employed through
2222 the program, disaggregated by:
2323 (1) race, ethnicity, and gender;
2424 (2) major and certificate or degree program;
2525 (3) classification as a freshman, sophomore, junior,
2626 or senior or the equivalent;
2727 (4) enrollment in a full course load or less than a
2828 full course load, as determined by the coordinating board;
2929 (5) the employment position's location on or off
3030 campus; and
3131 (6) [(2)] the employer's status as a for-profit or
3232 nonprofit entity.
3333 [(b) Notwithstanding Subsection (a), the Texas Higher
3434 Education Coordinating Board shall submit its initial report under
3535 that subsection not later than May 1, 2019. This subsection
3636 expires September 1, 2019.]
3737 SECTION 2. Notwithstanding Section 56.082, Education Code,
3838 as amended by this Act, the Texas Higher Education Coordinating
3939 Board shall submit its initial report required under that section
4040 not later than September 1, 2018.
4141 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
4242 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
4343 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
4444 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
4545 Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
