                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            March 31, 2017      TO: Honorable Jodie Laubenberg, Chair, House Committee on Elections      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB2485 by Elkins (Relating to the uniform election date.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Election Code relating to the uniform election date.The Secretary of State assumes any additional work associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed using existing resources.The bill would take effect on September 1, 2017.  Local Government Impact According to the Texas Association of Counties, Fort Bend County, Webb County, and Hunt County reported no significant fiscal impact. Hidalgo County reported there would be indeterminate costs associated with new voting machines, voting equipment, and personnel.
