| 10 | 10 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 11 | 11 | SECTION 1. Section 264.004, Family Code, is amended by | |
| 12 | 12 | adding Subsection (d) to read as follows: | |
| 13 | 13 | (d) The department may use state and federal funds to | |
| 14 | 14 | provide grants to charitable and faith-based organizations to | |
| 15 | 15 | provide the benefits or services to children and families described | |
| 16 | 16 | by Subsection (c). The executive commissioner shall adopt rules to | |
| 17 | 17 | implement this subsection, including rules governing the | |
| 18 | 18 | procedures for applying for and awarding grants. | |
| 19 | 19 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
