66 AN ACT
77 relating to the appointment of an attorney general liaison for each
88 regional office of the Department of Family and Protective
99 Services.
1010 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1111 SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 402, Government Code, is
1212 amended by adding Section 402.040 to read as follows:
1313 Sec. 402.040. CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICES LIAISON. For each
1414 regional office of the Department of Family and Protective Services
1515 that provides child protective services, the attorney general shall
1616 appoint an employee to serve as a liaison to the department for that
1717 regional office. The liaison shall:
1818 (1) serve as a point of contact for the attorney
1919 general's office to increase communication between the regional
2020 office and the attorney general's office;
2121 (2) provide assistance to the regional office in
2222 locating absent parents of children in the managing conservatorship
2323 of the department; and
2424 (3) provide to the regional office information in the
2525 attorney general's child support database that will enable the
2626 regional office to locate absent parents of children in the
2727 managing conservatorship of the department.
2828 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
