10 | 10 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
11 | 11 | SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 402, Government Code, is | |
12 | 12 | amended by adding Section 402.040 to read as follows: | |
13 | 13 | Sec. 402.040. CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICES LIAISON. For each | |
14 | 14 | regional office of the Department of Family and Protective Services | |
15 | 15 | that provides child protective services, the attorney general shall | |
16 | 16 | appoint an employee to serve as a liaison to the department for that | |
17 | 17 | regional office. The liaison shall: | |
18 | 18 | (1) serve as a point of contact for the attorney | |
19 | 19 | general's office to increase communication between the regional | |
20 | 20 | office and the attorney general's office; | |
21 | 21 | (2) provide assistance to the regional office in | |
22 | 22 | locating absent parents of children in the managing conservatorship | |
23 | 23 | of the department; and | |
24 | 24 | (3) provide to the regional office information in the | |
25 | 25 | attorney general's child support database that will enable the | |
26 | 26 | regional office to locate absent parents of children in the | |
27 | 27 | managing conservatorship of the department. | |
28 | 28 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
