66 AN ACT
77 relating to Internet broadcasts of meetings held by the board of
88 directors of a community development corporation.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Subchapter E, Chapter 22, Business Organizations
1111 Code, is amended by adding Section 22.236 to read as follows:
1212 Sec. 22.236. INTERNET BROADCAST AND ARCHIVE OF BOARD
1313 MEETINGS OF CERTAIN CORPORATIONS. (a) This section applies only to
1414 a corporation whose purpose is to foster economic growth and
1515 revitalization, provide economic development services, or develop
1616 affordable housing in a defined neighborhood or for a targeted
1717 population. The corporation may be known as a "community
1818 development corporation."
1919 (b) In a manner that would comply with Section 551.128(c),
2020 Government Code, if the board of directors were a governmental body
2121 to which that section applies, a corporation shall broadcast over
2222 the Internet live video and audio of each meeting held by the board
2323 of directors of the corporation. Subsequently, the corporation
2424 shall make available through the corporation's Internet website
2525 archived video and audio for each meeting for which live video and
2626 audio was provided under this section.
2727 SECTION 2. The changes in law made by this Act apply only to
2828 a meeting held on or after the effective date of this Act.
2929 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
