| 11 | 11 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 12 | 12 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter E, Chapter 370, Transportation Code, |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | is amended by adding Section 370.194 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Sec. 370.194. USE OF TOLL PROJECTS BY PUBLIC SCHOOL BUSES. |

| 15 | 15 | | (a) An authority may not require a school bus exempt from |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | registration fees under Section 502.453 to pay a toll for use of an |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | authority toll project. |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | (b) This section does not affect the ability of an authority |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | to adopt policies or rules regarding the use of the authority's |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | facilities, including policies or rules prohibiting the use of the |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | authority's facilities by vehicles unable to maintain minimum |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | designated travel speeds. |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
