| 11 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 12 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 662, Government Code, is |

| 13 | 11 | | amended by adding Section 662.065 to read as follows: |

| 14 | 12 | | Sec. 662.065. WOMEN VETERANS DAY. (a) June 12 is Women |
|---|
| 15 | 13 | | Veterans Day to recognize the role of women in the military forces |
|---|
| 16 | 14 | | and to commemorate the sacrifices of and valor displayed by Texas |
|---|
| 17 | 15 | | women veterans. |
|---|
| 18 | 16 | | (b) Women Veterans Day shall be regularly observed by |
|---|
| 19 | 17 | | appropriate programs and activities. |
|---|
| 20 | 18 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 21 | 19 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 22 | 20 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 23 | 21 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 24 | 22 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
