9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 40, Human Resources Code, | |
11 | 11 | is amended by adding Section 40.0328 to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | Sec. 40.0328. CASEWORKER PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT | |
13 | 13 | EXAMINATION. (a) A child protective services caseworker may not | |
14 | 14 | work in the field unless the caseworker has passed the child | |
15 | 15 | protective services professional development examination with a | |
16 | 16 | score of 70 percent or more. | |
17 | 17 | (b) A caseworker who does not pass the child protective | |
18 | 18 | services professional development examination may not retake the | |
19 | 19 | examination until the caseworker has completed a skills development | |
20 | 20 | plan under the supervision of the caseworker's direct supervisor. | |
21 | 21 | A caseworker may not take the examination more than three times. | |
22 | 22 | (c) The department may annually update the child protective | |
23 | 23 | services professional development examination. | |
24 | 24 | (d) The executive commissioner may adopt rules to implement | |
25 | 25 | this section. | |
26 | 26 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
