| 10 | 10 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 11 | 11 | | SECTION 1. Section 43.031, Election Code, is amended by |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | adding Subsection (f) to read as follows: |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | (f) In a county with a population of less than 3.3 million, a |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | location may not serve as a polling place if a candidate for an |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | elective office, including an office of a political party, or a |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | person related to the candidate within the third degree by |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | consanguinity or the second degree by affinity, as determined under |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Chapter 573, Government Code, owns the location, or is an owner or |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | principal of a business operating at the location. |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
