55 AN ACT
66 relating to eligibility requirements for registration as an
77 interior designer.
88 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
99 SECTION 1. Section 1053.155(b)(1), Occupations Code, is
1010 amended to read as follows:
1111 Sec. 1053.155. APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION TO EXAMINATION.
1212 (a) An applicant for a certificate of registration must apply to
1313 the board, on a form prescribed by the board, for admission to the
1414 registration examination.
1515 (b) An application for admission to the registration
1616 examination must be accompanied by evidence satisfactory to the
1717 board that the applicant:
1818 (1) has satisfied the educational and experience
1919 eligibility requirements for taking the examination of the National
2020 Council for Interior Design Qualification or a comparable
2121 examination. graduated from an interior design educational program
2222 recognized and approved by the board; and
2323 (2) has professional experience in the field of
2424 interior design.
2525 (c) The board shall adopt rules establishing standards for:
2626 (1) the recognition and approval of interior design
2727 educational programs; and
2828 (2) the amounts and types of professional experience
2929 necessary for registration examination eligibility.
3030 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
