114 AN ACT
125 relating to the hours of instruction provided in barbering and
136 cosmetology schools.
147 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
158 SECTION 1. Section 1603.351, Occupations Code, is amended
169 by adding Subsection (a-1) to read as follows:
1710 (a-1) Notwithstanding any other law, the commission may
1811 adopt rules to:
1912 (1) authorize a school licensed under this chapter,
2013 Chapter 1601, or Chapter 1602 to account for any hours of
2114 instruction completed under those chapters on the basis of clock
2215 hours or credit hours; and
2316 (2) establish standards for determining the
2417 equivalency and conversion of clock hours to credit hours and
2518 credit hours to clock hours.
2619 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
