| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 55.006(a), Transportation Code, is | |
| 11 | 11 | amended to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | (a) The committee consists of eight [seven] members | |
| 13 | 13 | appointed by the commission. The members shall be appointed as | |
| 14 | 14 | follows: | |
| 15 | 15 | (1) one member from the Port of Houston Authority; | |
| 16 | 16 | (2) three members who represent maritime ports on the | |
| 17 | 17 | upper Texas coast; [and] | |
| 18 | 18 | (3) three members who represent maritime ports on the | |
| 19 | 19 | lower Texas coast; and | |
| 20 | 20 | (4) one member who represents the comptroller. | |
| 21 | 21 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
