104 AN ACT
115 relating to the use of certain lighting equipment on security
126 patrol vehicles.
137 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
148 SECTION 1. Section 547.305, Transportation Code, is amended
159 by adding Subsections (e-1) and (e-2) and amending Subsection (f)
1610 to read as follows:
1711 (e-1) A security patrol vehicle may only be equipped with
1812 green, amber, or white lights.
1913 (e-2) A motor vehicle is equipped with a lamp or
2014 illuminating device under this section regardless of whether the
2115 lamp or illuminating device is:
2216 (1) attached to the motor vehicle temporarily or
2317 permanently; or
2418 (2) activated.
2519 (f) In this section:
2620 (1) "Security patrol vehicle" means a motor vehicle
2721 being used for the purpose of providing security services by:
2822 (A) a guard company described by Section
2923 1702.108, Occupations Code; or
3024 (B) a security officer as defined by Section
3125 1702.002, Occupations Code.
3226 (2) "Tow ["tow] truck" means a motor vehicle or
3327 mechanical device that is adapted or used to tow, winch, or move a
3428 disabled vehicle.
3529 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2018.
