A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to requiring the Public Utility Commission of Texas to
monitor and report on the deployment of advanced metering systems
in this state.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 39.107, Utilities Code, is amended by
adding Subsection (l) to read as follows:
(l) The commission shall monitor deployment of advanced
metering systems in this state. The commission shall publish on its
Internet website data on deployment of advanced meters by zip code.
The commission shall update the data not later than December 1 of
each year.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
